For nearly one-hundred years, multiple generations of families have chosen to support the Cleveland Museum of Art. Here, three generations of museum supporters in the Alfred M. Rankin family attend the museum’s 2011 Founder’s Dinner, which celebrates CMA philanthropy each year. This past year, we recognized the service of Mr. Alfred M. Rankin Jr., who has now retired as CMA’s board leader.

“The Cleveland Museum of Art owes its current position of strength and perpetual ability to welcome the public free of charge to the great philanthropists of previous generations, just as it owes its future strength to the support it receives today.”
–David Franklin
We at the museum are reminded every day of the power of gift planning through our founders—John Huntington, Hinman Hurlbut, Horace Kelly, and Jeptha Wade II. All four made visionary gifts to establish the Cleveland Museum of Art, and through their gift planning their vision became a reality in 1916.
Making a gift to the Cleveland Museum of Art through gift planning can be done regardless of your net worth, using a variety of fiscal planning tools such as charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities, and life insurance. Often there are tax incentives and benefits that encourage charitable giving.
We invite you to explore this web site and ask questions. We can confidentially provide you with information to discuss your legacy to the Cleveland Museum of Art and work with your financial/legal team to create a plan that accomplishes your philanthropic goals.
Like our founders of yesterday, our mission “for the benefit of all people forever” can be continued today through your legacy in artistic excellence, scholarship, or community outreach.
